Located in Van Phuc silk village, Ha Dong district, Hanoi, Vun Art cooperative is a local social enterprise founded by Le Viet Cuong. The cooperative aims to teach art and create meaningful employment people with disabilities who live in and nearby the village.
“Our cooperative used to produce fabric paintings, but started to make canvas bags recently to meet the increasing demand for environmentally friendly products,” Cuong said. “This is not only a small contribution to protecting the environment but helps increase income for our employees with disabilities.”
Vun Art’s bags are made from inexpensive eco-materials, including canvas, felt and sackcloth. The bags have creative designs with beautiful patterns featuring the natural scenery and culture of Vietnam. The patterns include iconic symbols such as One Pillar pagoda, the stone steles at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, and Dong Ho folk painting patterns.
